It’s a good time to be in the business of golf. There are guys for those of many eras, and a crop that should dominate the circuit for many years here – and they all fit very distinct buckets.
Much like the NBA in the last 8 years has been flooded with guys so ready for their place in the league, the quality, caliber and cajónes of Golf’s Next Generation is as great as ever.
There was a time when young winners stunned us, but the likes of the 24 and under crew is stunning, and starting to amount wins that should scare the 25-27 crowd (looking at you Morikawa, Hovland and Aberg… and not looking at Matt Wolff).
(don’t forget that Akshay won the Arnold Palmer, and is also 24)
Plus4: TPC Southwind
- A premium on accuracy: Similar to Sedgefield, there is a significant premium on driving accuracy. Missed fairway penalties are high.
- Very easy putting: What is very clear is that the greens have remained docile even after a big renovation leading into last year. These greens are small, and they are flat. If you are in form with the putter, you can make a ton of putts. Cam Young is not in form with the putter.
- Approach play: The great approach players separate from 150-225. TPC Southwind has more shots from this range than maybe anywhere else on TOUR. There are not significantly long approach bins, and the premium on fairways rarely lets players push it inside 100 yards.

Ben Griffin and Aberg rate out very well, but won’t get my money. BG ball speed and driving numbers so pitiful at courses that should fit that skillset with TPC Southwind. Aberg just not a guy I bet too often.
