Strategy this week: With a field over 150 players, sheer probability provides us a bigger list of players who rate out well. My plan this week is to rotate between 6 players above $9.1k and spread the rest of my ownership across a big number of players below $7.2k. There is simply not enough information or a large enough sample to separate these guys, so they will all get a piece. I will note that once you go below $7.3k, the talent pool does fall off rather fast.

Draws

Favorite Play: Doug Ghim ($7.3k) – Lil’ Dougie. I’m taking the bold stance that this might become the Doug Ghim open within a few years. He’s cheap and fits in every lineup.
Star Anchor: Justin Thomas ($10.4k) and Sungjae Im ($10.3k) – If JT is for real this year, he wins this tournament going away.
Gut Check: Jason Day ($7.9k) – Rarely will you see me on Jason Day, but he’s still too talented to be $7.9k in this field.
Favorite Sub-$7,000: Matti Schmid ($6.9k)
Punt: Steven Fisk ($6.5k) – I couldn’t tell you one thing about Feven Stisk except that if the driving stats from the Korn Ferry Tour are correct, he can pound the ball. Taylor Pendrith, Cameron Young, Taylor Montgomery… these are guys who in recent years came from KFT with the type of driving prowess that I believe Fisk possesses. We may be early here.

One & Done: Tom Kim

Open outright bets with placements: Tom Kim, Doug Ghim, Matti Schmid, Steven Fisk, Erik Van Rooyen – the last three are high-upside plays where I’m seeking Top 5s.
